Inaugural Meeting September 2002
From Sunday evening, 1st of September till Friday afternoon, 6th of September, the Inaugural Meeting of the Association SFERA was held at Pescara (Pe), Italy, comprising a three day Conference/Workshop, and two days of Field Trip in the area of the Montagna della Majella.
The published Abstracts Volume contains the program of the meeting (Conference and Field Workshop), extensive background information, and the publications of all the presentations held during the Conference, which each tackle one or more aspects of various categories, and some of the papers, defined as Case Studies, and distributed in the various sessions of the program, illustrate how to go through the complete Workflow.

These case studies vary from chalk to dual porosity carbonates, porous sandstones and basement rocks, distributed over the main hydrocarbon producing provinces. The presentations were divided into six scientific Sessions:
- Borehole Data Session;
- Analogue Forward Modelling Session;
- DFN Modelling and Case Studies Session;
- Outcrop Analogue Study Session;
- 3D Seismic Data Set Session;
- Simulations of Deformation Modelling Session;
and, furthermore, one Session dedicated to the Field trip and a Session dedicated to the presentation of the results of the Workshop in the Majella area.
The two-day field workshop showed highlights of carbonate platform, platform margin-slope and basinal facies, illustrating the interrelation of the regional structure and three-dimensional fracture system in great detail in order to reconstruct conceptual analogue models for oil-bearing structures.
